Babyproofing: Redneck Style

Well, Aubrey is no longer just barely crawling. She's all over the place - crawling, pulling up, climbing on you like a jungle gym if you sit on the floor, etc. She's so active now, so it makes things a little more difficult, but I LOVE it. It's sooo much fun!

Anyway, since she's now pulling up on everything, also, we thought it was time to babyproof the coffee table. We bought some of those soft rubber things that are made specifically for table corners, but they didn't fit. I started looking at the table and realized that some pipe insulation and duct tape would do the trick :)ok, so the scissors on the table are not part of the babyproofing... :-/Not the prettiest thing, but it works!

Here's what we've been finding every time Aubrey wakes up from her naps. Here, she's happier :)

Our little Strawberry! :)

Matt's mom brought back a strawberry Halloween costume for Aubrey from Indonesia. I don't remember when she got it, but as Halloween neared, I was a little worried that it wouldn't fit her. Boy, was I wrong. Not only did it fit, but it was flippin ADORABLE. See for yourselves...(this first one is my favorite!)This one just cracks me up...makes me think of a turtle. A red (?!?!) turtle. And here's a couple of her feeding herself puffs. She loves these things - any flavor. And she's gotten really good at feeding them to herself!Just in the last couple of days, I've given Aubrey a sippy cup (that's just for you, Trey :)) to practice with. She likes to play with it - suck on it and bite the spout, but gets really surprised when the water actually comes out.I just thought these were really cute. She crawled right up to Duke (she's become quite the pro at crawling and pulling up) and was so intrigued with his paws! He was pretty curious as to why she was approaching him, too :)
It's official. I take waaaaay too many pictures of Aubrey. Can you tell I'm a little proud of her?? :D

Big Milestone!

I know I just updated yesterday, but today when I got home from work with Aubrey, SHE CRAWLED! This was the first time to my knowledge...She's obviously been trying for quite some time, but none of the daycare workers said that she's actually crawled yet, so I think I got to see it for the first time! She'll be a pro by the time Matt gets home from Trinidad! Here she is in action!

Weekend with Grammy and PaPaw

This past weekend, my parents were able to make a visit up to Farmington! We had a really nice time just relaxing, spending some time shopping in Durango, and then hitting a pumpkin patch in Aztec on the way home. On Sunday, everyone helped me clean house, so parts that are never cleaned (or rarely cleaned) got done...it was very nice! Here are some pictures from our weekend...

Aubrey anxiously awaiting Grammy and PaPaw's arrival...Being silly with Grammy...Sleepy-head with PaPaw...In Durango...When we got the pumpkin patch, it was pretty cool outside. We worried the whole time we were there that it was too cold for Aubrey, and after the hayride to the actual pumpkin patch, I was able to run to the car and get her all bundled up...Here she is enjoying the hayride in her stroller...Aubrey picked her pumpkin out! (We weren't able to take her out of the stroller because we were in a hurry to get back since it was too chilly for her, plus, there were HUGE burrs all over the ground, so we couldn't set her down for cute pumpkin pictures)Posing by the scarecrows and waiting for the hayride to come pick us up...Finally all bundled up!When we got home from our busy day in Durango, my mom wanted to give Aubrey her bath. I got out and actually put batteries in one of the bath toys that my mom had gotten Aubrey, and it was hilarious! This little toy spun in circles and sprayed water out of the top of it! Aubrey loved it and really didn't seem to mind the water in her eyes and face! All in all, we had a great weekend! I really enjoy getting visitors! (hint, hint!) Our next big thing to look forward to is going to Houston for Christmas, and getting to see Matt's parents and family. We haven't seen them since July!

Almost crawling!

Well, it looks like we'll soon be chasing Aubrey around the house! She hasn't started crawling yet, but for at least a week or week and a half, she's been getting onto all 4's from a sitting position and rocking back and forth. I fully expect her to start moving by the end of next week...the changes in her daily are amazing. The workers at the daycare are even amazed at how fast she catches on and how early she's hitting milestones! Besides teeth. Still no teeth! Anyway, along with almost crawling, she will kind of get up into push up position...I had never seen a baby do this (not that I was ever around many babies before Aubrey, but still...) Here are a few pictures...

In push up position...Ready to take off any day now! (I better start childproofing...)Feeding herself. She usually chooses not to hold the bottle herself, though..I walked in the living room to find her laying on Matt's lap like this (probably because she was being super squirmy like usual, and petting the dogs. I barely got this picture taken...when I sat on the floor to try to take the pictures, I got attacked by the dogs...lol. Those poor guys...they had no idea a baby in the house would get them so little attention (from me, at least :()There's not really anything else new going on around here. My parent's will be here next weekend, so I'm really looking forward to that! We have no plans to do anything...they just wanted to see little Aubrey before Christmas when we'll be home!

6 Month Update

Last week, we had Aubrey's 6 month pictures and her 6 month pediatrician appointment on the same day. Her pictures went great, and I'm sure that there are lots of cute ones! We got a lot of family pictures, also, so I'm hoping to have our Christmas cards done soon! That would be awesome! For a little sneak peek at Aubrey's pictures (I won't get them all back until Wednesday), to go the photographers blog. It's at www.signaturepd.com, and then click on the blog link. You'll have to scroll down to the second post down to see Aubrey's pictures.

At her doctor appointment, she weighed 16lb 3oz (55th percentile) and was 26 inches long (60th percentile), and the doctor said that everything looked great! We had gone in a little concerned about some rashes and dry skin patches that she's had for quite a while. The worst spots were her neck and under her chin from drooling, and then behind her knees. It had actually started scabbing over behind her knees, and we had tried everything we knew to try to clear them up and nothing worked. The dr. prescribed her some hydracortisone ointment while we were there, and literally within 1 day, all her rashes looked 10 times better! They're pretty much gone at this point, so we're really happy about that!

Here are a couple of pictures (obviously ones that I took...not the photographer...lol)

Cute "little pumpkin" outfit, with a very surprised look on her faceFriday morning, it was in the 20s here...so cold! So I had to bundle Aubrey up to go to daycare...I had no idea this little hoodie sweater would be so cute :)Today, Aubrey was little miss grouchy pants for pretty much the whole day...we don't know what was wrong with her. It doesn't feel/look like she's teething, so maybe a growth spurt? I don't know, but during the few minutes that she was actually happy, I was putting laundry away and stuck her in the laundry basket for a couple minutes...got a couple cute ones :) Here, she's actually trying to pull up to a standing position.I'll let everyone know when her 6 month professional pictures have been posted!

Giggles :)

Just wanted to post this little video of Aubrey with the giggles...lol. I was just holding her and started making her go "Hop, Hop, Hop!" and she loved it...as you can see :)

Aubrey's 6 month pictures are this Wednesday, and then she's got her 6 month dr. appt after that, so I just decided to take the day off. Turns out that Matt has a few vacation days that he needs to burn, also, so we'll all be celebrating Aubrey's 1/2 birthday together! I'm looking forward to it!
